CFGB Presentation at the ARMA Fall IM Days

November 23, 2011

A delegation from the Canadian Forces Grievance Board was the center of attention during an Information Management conference recently held in the National Capital Region as it presented its findings on a pilot project to migrate the Board’s records from corporate shared drives to the Records, Documents and Information Management System (RDIMS).

Participants at the Fall Information Management (IM) Days, organized in November by the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) at Château Cartier hotel in Aylmer (Quebec), expressed great interest in the Semantics Technology tool developed by the Board - in partnership with Electronic Warfare Associates (EWA) - which allows a records analyst to identify the salient points within a document for immediate classification into the RDIMS.

As one of the first federal departments to fully identify and migrate all of its records to RDIMS, with accurate retention and disposal schedules, the Board acts as a model for other Government of Canada organizations similarly required to comply with Treasury Board’s Record Keeping Directive.

It is expected that the Board will reach full compliance with this directive two years ahead of schedule.
