New Chairperson Appointed

Mr. Bruno Hamel was appointed as Chairperson of the Board effective March 2, 2009 for a four-year term. His appointment was announced by the Minister of National Defence Peter MacKay.
Mr. Hamel has a lengthy and varied experience in the management and resolution of military complaints. Enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1983, he served mainly with Army field and training units before joining the Director General Canadian Forces Grievance Authority (DGCFGA) in 1999 as a grievance analyst. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 2003, he has since held the position of Director, Special Grievances Enquiries and Investigations at DGCFGA. Between 2006 and 2007, Mr. Hamel also worked as Director General of Operations in the Office of the Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the CF.
"The Canadian Forces Grievance Board helps to ensure that Canada's military personnel continue to be treated with the integrity and respect they deserve," said Minister MacKay. "The Canadian Forces grievance system will no doubt benefit from the wealth of experience and qualifications the new chair brings to the Board."
