In Canada, October marks Women’s History Month, an invaluable opportunity to pay tribute to the inspiring women and girls who have shaped our country’s history through their courage and achievements.
As a memory institution for all Canadians, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is proud to highlight a wide range of experiences and stories by making the collections in its care accessible to the general public.
This year, we celebrate Women’s History Month under the theme Women at work: Economic growth past, present and future. Throughout the ages, many pioneering women have made significant contributions to the advancement of different fields, including the sciences, education, the arts and entrepreneurship. And what about architecture? The collections in LAC’s care are full of gems, including the Sarah Hall fonds. Internationally renowned for her technical innovations in architectural glass, Sarah Hall is the first female architect whose archives we have preserved.
