Collection Search content viewer update
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve just released an updated version of our content viewer for digital items in Collection Search. Our Collection Search tool was launched in 2018 to make it easier for everyone to access the digital items in our collections. That wasn’t the end of the story, though: we’ve been working to improve it ever since.
This updated viewer enhances search capacity of the collections and increases access to digital items like images, videos, and audio files. Viewing digital items is better than ever thanks to its built-in zoom, page navigation, and image rotation controls. As a result, PDF copies of documents like military personnel files are easier to access.
Broadly speaking, this viewer is more consistent with those you’d see on the websites of other galleries, libraries, archives, and museums for that authentic research experience. It also brings a little bit of the reference room to your computer: the new viewer can display image thumbnails in groups that better resemble the order of physical copies.
