Who’s eligible for faster processing
We aim to process eligible work permit applications within 2 weeks.
To benefit from this, your temporary foreign worker must
- apply online from outside Canada
- submit a complete application
If you need a labour market impact assessment (LMIA)
You must have a positive LMIA through the Global Talent Stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
Check your LMIA decision letter to determine whether you have a positive LMIA.
If you’re not sure, you can check if you need an LMIA.
If you don’t need an LMIA
You and your worker must meet all of these requirements:
- The worker’s job is classified under Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) category 0 (management jobs) or 1 (jobs that require a university degree) of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
- You’ve submitted an offer of employment and paid the employer compliance fee through the Employer Portal (unless exempted).
If you’re hiring through the Innovation Stream
Your worker may be eligible for faster processing if you meet all of the following requirements:
- You are participating in the Global Hypergrowth Project.
- You are hiring a worker whose job is classified under TEER category 0 or 1 of the NOC.
- You meet the wage assessment for the job you’re offering.
International Experience Canada applicants are not eligible for 2-week processing.
Worker’s spouse and dependants
Your worker’s spouse or common-law partner and dependent children are also eligible for faster processing if they apply at the same time as the worker.
This applies to applications for a
- visitor visa, if required
- work permit
- study permit
They must submit a complete application.
