Who can apply
To be eligible for a PR card, you must
- have permanent residence status in Canada
- be in Canada (because we don’t mail PR cards outside Canada)
- not have lost your PR status by, for example
- being issued a removal order
- becoming a Canadian citizen or
- failing to meet residence requirements (time lived in Canada)
If you’re outside Canada
If you don’t have a valid PR card, you must apply for a permanent resident (PR) travel document to travel back to Canada.
