Crisis in Lebanon: get your travel documents ready

If you don’t have valid travel documents to travel to Canada, you should submit an application as soon as possible.

We’re increasing our capacity in the region to process these applications as quickly as possible.

Canadian citizens

Canadian citizens need a Canadian passport to travel to Canada.

Prepare a passport application

Make sure you prepare the right documents, forms and photos before you apply for a passport.

Renew a passport or apply for a new one

Permanent residents of Canada

Permanent residents need a permanent resident card to travel to Canada. If you don’t have a valid permanent resident card, you need to apply for a permanent resident travel document (PRTD).

Apply for a PRTD

Foreign nationals, including Lebanese nationals and immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents

Anyone who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident needs a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to travel to Canada.

If you plan to travel with a passport issued by Lebanon, you need a visitor visa to come to Canada.

If you plan to travel with a travel document issued by a country other than Canada or Lebanon, you could be eligible for an eTA.

If you need a visitor visa

You should apply online as soon as possible. If you need to provide your biometrics, confirm that the visa application centre in Beirut is open.

Get emergency consular assistance

Canadians and permanent residents in Lebanon who need emergency consular assistance should contact the Government of Canada at the dedicated email address for Canadians affected by the ongoing conflict: me-mo.sos@international.gc.ca.

You should also sign up for the Registration of Canadians Abroad service to get important updates as the situation evolves.

If you’ve already registered, you should review your information to ensure that it’s accurate and up to date.
