If you already have a work permit under the Start-up Visa Program, you may be able to extend it while your permanent residence application is being processed.

Bringing cash to Canada
If you’re bringing more than CAN$10,000 in cash across the Canadian border, you must tell a border agent when you arrive. If you don’t, you may be fined and your funds could be taken away.
If you applied for a work permit extension
If you’re extending your work permit, you’ll need to make sure you can continue working while we process your application.
If your family members are in Canada with you
After you apply for your work permit extension, your family members can also apply to extend their
- visitor status
- work permit or
- study permit
