Take a language test
You need a certain level in English or French to qualify for the pilots. You need a level 4 in the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC).
You’ll need to take an approved language test and include the results in your application. To do this,
- schedule your test with an approved agency
- pay the test costs
After you get the results of your test, compare them to the charts below to see what CLB or NCLC level you have.
What to include in your application
Include a copy of your test results that shows you obtained level 4 in the CLB or NCLC in all 4 abilities. Your test results must be less than 2 years old when you apply.
Keep a copy of the report for your records and future use.
