How to Get a Police Certificate – Ukraine

If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

Extract from the Information and Analytical system "Records of Data on an Individual’s Criminal Prosecution and a Criminal Record"

Police certificate and IRCC requirements

You must provide a police certificate when you apply for:

  • permanent residence
  • citizenship
  • some temporary residence programs

How to apply

If you are a citizen of Ukraine

If you live in Ukraine

You can:

  • Contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine via the online service for issuing the police certificates. You can submit an electronic form and receive a certificate in the form of an extract through the electronic service by logging into your Personal Account using a qualified electronic signature. The service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs do not issue paper certificates.
  • Obtain a police certificate electronically through the "Diia" mobile application.

The police certificate will be sent to your electronic address. Processing of an application takes up to 30 days. This service is free of charge.

If you live outside of Ukraine

You can:

  • apply in person at your nearest Embassy of Ukraine. For more information, please visit the website of the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consular office.
  • provide notarized authorization to a representative to apply on your behalf at the Informatization Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (See Contact information)

If you are not a citizen of Ukraine

If you live in Ukraine

Apply in person or provide notarized authorization to a representative to apply on your behalf at the Informatization Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (See Contact information)

If you live outside of Ukraine
