How to Get a Police Certificate - Peru
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.
Names of the documents you need
If you’re a citizen of Peru, you need a Certificado Unico Laboral (Unique Labour Certificate).
If you’re not a citizen of Peru, you need 3 documents:
- a police certificate
- a judicial certificate
- a penal certificate
Police certificate and IRCC requirements
You must provide a police certificate when you apply for:
- permanent residence
- citizenship
- some temporary residence programs

How to apply
If you are a Peruvian citizen with an ID number
Apply for a Certificado Unico Laboral from the Peruvian Ministry of Labour.
You can request your certificate online for free.

If you aren’t a Peruvian citizen
You live in Peru
You need to apply for 3 documents:
- Apply for a police certificate at
- your local police station or
- the Dirección Nacional de Criminalística de la Policía Nacional del Perú (PNP)
- Apply for a penal certificate at the offices of the Registro Nacional de Condenas del Poder Judicial del Perú.
- Apply for a judicial certificate at the offices of the Instituto Nacional Penitenciario (INP).

You live outside of Peru
Apply for police, judicial and penal certificates by doing one of the following:
- Contact the relevant issuing authority for each certificate.
- Apply for a police certificate from the Dirección Nacional de Criminalística de la Policía Nacional del Perú.
- Apply for a penal certificate from Registro Nacional de Condenas del Poder Judicial del Perú.
- Apply for a judicial certificate from the National Penitentiary Institute (INP).
- Contact your nearest Peruvian embassy or consulate.
- Have a family member or friend living in Peru request the certificates on your behalf.
- Depending on the type of document, either simple written consent or a power of attorney could be required (contact the issuing authorities for more details).

Special considerations
You must include the following along with any document that is not in English or French:
- the English or French translation and
- an affidavit from the person who completed the translation (if they are not a certified translator)
Depending on the type of translation you need, you can contact the Colegio de Traductores del Perú (Peruvian School of Translators) (available in Spanish only) or the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) (available in Spanish only) to find a translator.
