How to get a police certificate – Benin

If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

Name of the document you need

Extrait de casier judiciaire

Police certificate and IRCC requirements

You must provide a police certificate when you apply for permanent residence in Canada, and for some temporary residence programs (please see the document checklist and/or visa office requirements for details).

How to apply

If you’re a citizen of Benin, apply at the Tribunal where you were born.

Special considerations

Police certificates are only available to applicants born in Benin.

If you can’t provide a police certificate, this could delay the processing time for your application. Upload a letter to your application with the following statement: “I cannot provide a police certificate for the full time I spent in Benin because police certificates are only issued to Benin nationals.”
