How to Get a Police Certificate – Belize
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

Police certificate and IRCC requirements
You must provide a police certificate when you apply for:
- permanent residence
- citizenship
- some temporary residence programs

How to apply
- Apply in person or through a lawyer with power of attorney at one of the Police Stations listed under Contact information.
- A completed application form may be mailed to the Belizean Police Department.
Information and documents you need
- Completed application form (PDF, 81 KB)
- Three passport-size photographs
- Applicable fees
- An identification document (birth certificate, Social Security card or voter’s identity card)
- Foreign residents must also indicate their parents’ names and present their original passport
Special considerations
Processing time is approximately 2 weeks. Belmopan Police Headquarters does offer 1 day express service (different processing fee).
