ARCHIVED – Notice – Passport Canada – New fees effective March 31, 2014
March 5, 2014 — With over 65,000 Canadian passports lost or stolen in 2013, Passport Canada will implement a new service fee for replacement passports. As a cost-recovery operation, the Passport Program must charge the appropriate fees to cover its costs which will keep general passport fees down and maintain a high level of service for Canadians.
The following new administrative services fees will take effect on March 31, 2014:

Canada's passport and travel document fee structure is set up to balance the costs and revenues of the program as a whole over a 10-year business cycle, including the basic cost of issuing passports and offering services, but also costs associated with the rental of buildings, investments in infrastructure, and new and emerging international security initiatives.
