- Numerous media outlets have reported on a Quebec-based recruitment agency that exploited foreign nationals in Canada by employing them in a capacity for which they were not authorized.
- Although I cannot comment publically on any potential Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) investigations or inspections, the Government of Canada takes immigration fraud very seriously.
- The Department works closely with partners on investigations into fraudulent activity, including nefarious actors looking to exploit vulnerable foreign nationals using Canada’s immigration programs.
- IRCC provides information and resources on its website to help prospective applicants abroad avoid becoming a victim of fraud. IRCC also launches targeted campaigns when they are warranted, such as the 2023 advertising campaign launched in India to raise awareness among prospective applicants of recent fraud trends.
- IRCC believes the best way to protect the public from fraud is to remain informed and alert. IRCC offers extensive information on its website regarding how to detect, prevent and report fraud.
- The Government of Canada will continue to take meaningful action to root out immigration fraud and protect those who wish to come here, and will always uphold the security and integrity of Canada’s immigration and citizenship systems.
