Key Messages
- Funding of $212M is being sought by IRCC through the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the IHAP.
- This funding is to compensate provinces and municipalities for the interim housing of asylum claimants. This new grant funding will allow IRCC to continue support to affected jurisdictions for calendar year 2023 interim housing costs.
Supplementary Information
- The funding decision was approved by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance through an off-cycle request on July 18, 2023 for a one-year renewal of the IHAP.
