The content on the topic of voluntary renunciation of permanent resident (PR) status is re-organized with distinct topic headings to improve the search function for officers seeking functional guidance, and minor updates have also been added.
The differences between current legislation for voluntary renunciation of PR status and previous legislation for relinquishment and the effect on legal status in Canada is made clear.
Existing letter templates have been revised with minor updates for processing applications from clients who want to voluntarily renounce their Canadian PR status.
New letter templates are added to cover additional circumstances.
