Program delivery update: Study permits: Designated learning institutions

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

February 18, 2022

Transitional provisions from June 1, 2014 no longer apply and have been removed, as the issuance of study permits is limited to applicants who have been accepted to undertake a program of study at an educational institution that is designated to host international students. The links and instructions for identifying designated learning institutions (DLIs) have also been updated, with clearer instructions on which unit to contact for de-designations. These changes do not impact the current COVID-19 measures in place.

Changes have been made to the following sections of the PDI:

  • DLI number
  • Loss of designation
