Program delivery update: Launch of the new asylum eApp via the IRCC Portal

On September 13, 2022, IRCC launched the new asylum online application (eApp) via the IRCC Portal, which replaced the Canadian Refugee Protection Portal (CRPP) as the main way to make an inland refugee claim. In accordance with the Treasury Board’s Web Accessibility Standard, IRCC is maintaining an alternative process for those who require accommodation on disability or other grounds. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Individuals who have already submitted a claim through the CRPP do not need to complete a new claim through the eApp. Individuals who started a claim in the CRPP on or before September 12, 2022, but have not yet submitted it, will have until December 31, 2022, to do so.
The CRPP will continue to be used by claimants who have their examination moved inland from a port of entry if directed by the Canada Border Services Agency.
Updates have been made to account for the introduction and use of the new eApp, along with some general updates and improvements.
