Program delivery update: Biometrics: Step-by-step collection procedures

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

November 3, 2021

The instructions on partial collection and the 1 in 10 policy in the temporary residence stream have been updated.

Old content: In cases where applicants do not benefit from the 1 in 10 policy, the validity date of their biometrics will be set to the final decision date of the application.

New content: In cases where applicants do not benefit from the 1 in 10 policy, the validity date of their biometrics will be set to the expiry date of the permit or visa counterfoil if the application is “Approved”. If the application is “Refused” or “Withdrawn”, it will be set to the “Application Closed Date”. A note should be entered in the system to indicate that the applicant does not qualify for the 1 in 10 policy.
