The Mobilité Francophone instructions (Labour Market Impact Assessment [LMIA] exemption code C16) have been updated.
The updates are as follows:
- Guidance related to applicants who are eligible to apply for an initial work permit under LMIA exemption code C16 upon entry or after entry to Canada has been added. Applicants should be prepared to provide their language results either in their work permit application (for in-Canada applicants) or to a border services officer (for applicants who are eligible to apply for a work permit upon entry). If an applicant cannot satisfy an officer that they meet this eligibility consideration, the work permit application may be refused.
- Information has been added to explain that exemption code C16 applicants outside Canada are strongly recommended to apply for their initial work permit application online or via a visa application centre (VAC) overseas.
- The section regarding work permit issuance in the Global Case Management System (GCMS) has been updated to clarify that some of the information regarding exemption codes, National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes, salaries, employers and intended occupations is pulled from the LMIA-exempt offer of employment.
- Instructions related to family members have been added.
