Program delivery update: Work permit issuance prohibitions

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

April 3, 2019

The instructions have been updated to remove the cumulative duration section, per the repeal of paragraph 200(3)(g) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).

An application in progress is no longer subject to cumulative duration, whether it is work with a permit [R200] or without a permit [R186].

The page “Temporary Foreign Worker Program: Cumulative duration (four-year maximum eliminated)” has been deleted.
