Program delivery update: Co-op work permit

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

March 7, 2019

The instructions have been updated with details on processing co-op work permits, including codes, conditions and user remarks to be input by officers.

An alert was added to flag that condition 21, “not authorized to work for any employer other than stated” should not be selected on co-op work permits. Applicants with a co-op work permit that includes condition 21 are able to work for co-op participating employers. If this condition causes issues with the designated learning institution (DLI) or employer, applicants may request a change to the conditions of their work permit to have this condition removed.
