Program delivery update: Federal MPs can resume participating in citizenship ceremonies

As of November 20, 2019, all federal Members of Parliament (MPs) have been sworn in and as such can resume participating in citizenship ceremonies as special guests and guest speakers. The following note box has been removed from the instructions for elections, holidays and other timing considerations for citizenship ceremonies.
Amended guidance for MP participation in citizenship ceremonies in effect until November 20, 2019
Until the swearing-in of the new federal government, guidance for the participation of MPs in citizenship ceremonies has been amended as follows:
- Returning MPs can resume holding formal/speaking roles in ceremonies
- Any requests from non-returning MPs to participate in a ceremony should be sent to CIT-OPERATIONS
- Requests from the ridings of Quebec and Port Moody‒Coquitlam should also be sent CIT-OPERATIONS
This amended guidance is in place until November 20, 2019.
Per existing guidance, any MP wishing to attend a citizenship ceremony as a member of the audience can do so.
