Program delivery update: Sponsorship residency requirements for the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program

New program delivery instructions (PDIs) are available for sponsorship residency requirements for the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Program. These PDIs provide guidance on assessing residency requirements under the PSR Program and on the process to undertake when requests to change the final destination are submitted before or after the Notification of Arrival Transmission is issued.
These PDIs aim to ensure that
- the legislative sponsorship requirements are met, per paragraph 153(1)(a) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations
- measures are in place for exceptional situations, where the sponsors or the refugees relocate to ensure that the necessary support is provided to the refugee, once they are in Canada
