Program delivery update – April 17, 2015

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

New instructions are being developed for requests for change of sex designations

Summary

New instructions are currently being developed. It is anticipated that they will be posted by spring or early summer 2015. The new procedures are being amended to remove the requirement for proof of sex reassignment surgery (SRS) and provide a list of acceptable evidence to support a request to change one’s sex designation on a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) document. The program delivery instructions listed below now contain an Important Notice box that provide instruction on any new or in-process grant and proof applications that request a change in sex designation.
