Tuberculosis

The “Medical Surveillance Handout: Inactive Tuberculosis or other Complex Non-Infectious Tuberculosis” outlines the CIC medical surveillance requirement and provides basic information about tuberculosis as well as phone numbers for the provincial/territorial public health authorities. In addition to French and English, the handout is now available in seven other languages, namely Chinese (simplified), Hindi, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu and Vietnamese.
The handout is given to applicants who require medical surveillance for inactive tuberculosis, along with the Medical Surveillance Undertaking (IMM0535) form. It can be issued either by the visa/immigration officer prior to the applicant's departure for Canada or by the port-of-entry officer upon the applicant's arrival to Canada. The officer providing the handout to an applicant must check off the appropriate time frame (i.e. seven days or thirty days) for reporting to the Canadian public health authorities.
