Permanent residence pathways for Hong Kong residents: Admissibility

Determining admissibility

Once the processing office has determined that a principal applicant is eligible to apply under the public policy, the principal applicant and their family members, whether accompanying or not, must

Applicants cannot be granted permanent residence under this public policy if they or any of their family members are found to be inadmissible.

Medical

Applicants under this public policy will have received the medical instructions following completeness check. A reminder can be sent if the timeframe provided has elapsed.

Criminality

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit police certificates up front with their application. Should police certificates not be included, following the completeness check, the processing office would have requested a police certificate for the applicant’s current country of residence as well as one for any country where they have lived for 6 months or more in a row (and the same for their family members 18 years or older). The processing office can refer them to Police certificates for immigration and citizenship for more information.
