This section is about processing amounts issued to Federal Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (Federal EMPP) applicants to be used as settlement funds.
Federal EMPP applicants immigrate to Canada as economic migrants, and as such they are required to demonstrate they have sufficient funds to economically establish in Canada.
Federal EMPP applicants who hold a valid job offer do not have to meet a settlement fund requirement. However, Federal EMPP applicants, who do not have a job offer, will be required to demonstrate proof of funds to meet settlement fund requirements of 50% of the low-income cut-off (LICO).
To prove they have sufficient funds as per LICO, Federal EMPP applicants who do not have a job offer could demonstrate they have grants, gifts and community donations as well as their household income representing 50% of LICO. Loans encumbered by debts (e.g.: Windmill loans) are not acceptable and cannot be used as settlement funds.
