Ministerial Instructions 61 (MI61): Ministerial instructions for the submission of online applications for permanent resident visas and other documents
In support of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) commitment to reducing inventories and processing times, ministerial instructions came into force on September 23, 2022, requiring that applications for permanent resident visas, permanent resident status and sponsorship applications under various immigration streams be submitted electronically. These ministerial instructions identify which IRCC applications must now be submitted online and provide the dates on which the requirement comes into force for each program.
These instructions will expire on December 31, 2023.
