Drug and medical device post market surveillance

Transcript

Transcript

When new drugs come onto the market, how do we figure out if they are interacting with other drugs people are taking?

Or causing problems only in certain groups, such as children?

We look at Adverse Reaction Reports for patterns or signals. What may seem random may actually fit a pattern that catches our attention.

Our job is to closely monitor and respond to these emerging ‘signals’ about the drugs and medical devices Canadians are using.

If we notice something unexpected, we may order changes to drug labels, add new warnings, or advise that certain drugs should not be taken together. These are just some of the steps we take to protect Canadians
