Factsheet: Lithium–ion Batteries - Don't Go up in Smoke!

Lithium-ion batteries are found in many rechargeable household devices. If mishandled, they can overheat, catch fire and explode!

Reduce your fire risk:

• Handle with care. Do not modify or tamper with batteries.
• Don't use batteries if showing signs of damage like swelling or overheating.
• Charge away from soft surfaces and bedding to prevent overheating.
• Store your battery at room temperature.
• Check with your municipality on how to safely dispose of your batteries.
• If replacing a charger, check that the voltage (V) and current(A) are compatible with your device.
