ARCHIVED - Survey of Bisphenol A in Bottled Water Products

Health Canada recently conducted a survey entitled Survey of Bisphenol A in Bottled Water Products.

This survey examined samples from 56 different bottled water products.  We have discovered no detectable levels of BPA in these products, with the exception of water cooler containers; however, the levels of BPA in these containers were very low and pose no safety concerns.

BPA is an industrial chemical used to make a hard, clear plastic known as polycarbonate, which is used in many consumer products, including reusable water bottles.

The survey was conducted by Health Canada as part of its research and monitoring agenda to further investigate potential health effects of BPA and improve its understanding of Canadian exposure to this chemical through food sources.
