New subscription service
We are pleased to announce the launch of our updated subscription service for WHPP News, formerly known as "WHMIS News."
WHPP News is a Health Canada-managed email list that shares updates and information related to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) from Health Canada's federal perspective. Subscribers will receive notifications about regulatory changes, updates to service standards and fees, hazardous substance assessments, and news related to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
The new subscription platform requests information from subscribers that will assist us in gaining a better understanding of our stakeholder community. The platform also provides clear and comprehensive information regarding the ways in which your personal data is used, as well as details about your privacy rights.
Important: All current subscribers must re-subscribe through the new platform to continue receiving WHPP News. Existing subscriptions will not be transferred automatically as the previous subscription process did not include a privacy notice.

Fall 2026 multi-stakeholder workshop: Call-out for speakers and topics
The fourth annual Workplace Hazardous Products Program multi-stakeholder workshop is planned for fall 2026. The intent of this forum is to facilitate engagement and dialogue across the WHMIS community to improve participation and the exchange of knowledge. Summaries of previous workshops are available:
The workshop will take place virtually over 1 to 2 half days, depending on the proposed agenda items.
We therefore invite all interested stakeholder groups to propose discussion items that their organizations could lead as part of the upcoming workshop.
This invitation is open to industry associations, labour organizations, federal, provincial and territorial partners, and any other group with an interest in Health Canada decision-making regarding hazard communication of workplace chemical products.
To inform productive and effective sessions, please send proposed agenda items to whmis-simdut@hc-sc-gc.ca by Wednesday, September 9, 2026, including any relevant contact information for discussion leads, where appropriate.
