Notice: Prescription Drug List (PDL): Avilamycin

The purpose of this Notice of Amendment is to notify the addition of avilamycin to both the Human and Veterinary Prescription Drug List (PDL).

Avilamycin or its salts or derivatives

Rationale

A scientific review of this drug against the criteria set out in C.01.040.3 of the Food and Drug Regulations indicates its use without professional supervision will more likely result in abuse or overuse of this drug and subsequently the development and spread of resistant bacteria of both animal and human health concern. Therefore prescription status has been determined for this drug and its approved use.
