Final Screening Assessment
In September 2014, the final Screening Assessment on 1,1'-Biphenyl (Biphenyl) was released and the related Notice was published in the Canada Gazette Part I: Vol. 148 No. 37 - September 13, 2014 (PDF Version - 854 K). The final screening assessment concludes that biphenyl does not meet any of the criteria set out in section 64 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999).
Draft Screening Assessment
In July 2013, the Draft Screening Assessment on 1,1'-Biphenyl (Biphenyl) was released and the related Notice was published in the Canada Gazette, Part I: Vol. 147 No. 28 - July 6, 2013 (PDF Version - 1434 K) for a 60-day public comment period. The draft screening assessment proposed to conclude that biphenyl does not meet any of the criteria set out in section 64 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999). Background
Under the categorization exercise, biphenyl was found not to meet either ecological or human health categorization criteria but was identified as a potential concern to human health prior to the assessment.
