The Nursing Strategy for Canada is a joint Federal-Provincial-Territorial strategy that addresses the issue of adequate supply of nursing personnel in Canada.

The shortage of nurses was first addressed in 1999 by Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministries of Health. Following consultations with key stakeholders across Canada, the first nationwide nursing strategy was developed. The Canadian Nursing Advisory Committee (CNAC), created in 2001 as part of the recommendations in the "Nursing Strategy for Canada, October 2000" report, was tasked to provide options that would renew and sustain the Canadian nursing workforce. CNAC submitted its final report "Our Health, Our Future: Creating Quality Workplaces for Canadian Nurses" in 2003.
