Represents the riding of Northwest Territories

The Honourable Rebecca Alty, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Northwest Territories in April 2025.

A lifelong resident of Yellowknife, Minister Alty began her career in politics as a City Councillor, serving for six years. In 2018, she became the second woman to be elected Mayor of Yellowknife, a post she served in until 2025.

Throughout her more than twelve years on the Yellowknife city council, Minister Alty was known for her open collaboration and passionate advocacy on issues such as reconciliation, housing affordability, and sustainable development.
