Minister Anand to travel to India and the United Arab Emirates
News release
Today, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced she will travel to India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 13 to October 16 to deepen bilateral relations and cooperation with these countries.
During Minister Anand’s visit to India, she will meet with the Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to advance collaboration on roadmap priorities, including trade, energy, people-to-people ties and security and defence cooperation. This will be the 11th meeting between Minister Anand and Minister Jaishankar since September 2025, reflecting sustained high-level engagement and a growing bilateral relationship.
In New Delhi, Minister Anand will participate in the Bloomberg New Economy Forum for a panel discussion on middle powers and the changing global order. The Minister will reinforce the importance of multilateral and plurilateral cooperation at a time of geopolitical uncertainty and highlight Canada as a reliable partner for India and the broader Indo-Pacific.
In the UAE, Minister Anand will meet with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to strengthen the Canada-UAE relationship and advance shared prosperity and security. She will also meet with senior leaders and government officials, as well as business leaders to expand commercial partnerships, promote collaboration in defence and security, artificial intelligence and innovation, and strengthen people-to-people ties.
These meetings will build on the significant commitments made during Prime Minister Carney’s visit to the UAE in November 2025, to elevate the bilateral relationship and reaffirm Canada’s role as a constructive partner amid regional crises and global economic uncertainty.
