The governments of Canada and Alberta are working with Indigenous peoples and their communities, stakeholders and environmental agencies to ensure the oil sands region is developed in an environmentally responsible way. Together they are working to provide comprehensive environmental monitoring data and information to improve understanding of the long-term cumulative effects of oil sands development.
