Toxic substances list: (4-Chlorophenyl)cyclopropylmethanone, O-[(4-nitrophenyl)methyl]oxime (NCC ether)
An application was made to Environment Canada in December 1995 to import (4-Chlorophenyl)cyclopropylmethanone, O-[(4-nitrophenyl)methyl]oxime (NCC ether) into Canada under the New Substances Notification Regulations of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA). The substance, which is not used or manufactured in Canada, was intended to be imported as an intermediate chemical in the manufacture of a pesticide. The pesticide would be manufactured for export purposes only. An assessment led to the conclusion that NCC ether is toxic under CEPA. As a result, the departments of Environment and Health have prohibited the manufacture, use, sale, offer for sale and import of the substance in Canada.
