2-MEA should be prohibited in consumer products and cosmetics. In addition, Canadian regulations should emulate European Union requirements that prohibit the use of 2-MEA in consumer products.

Since 2-MEA is not used in the United States or European Union, it is not likely to be found in Canadian consumer products or cosmetics. Exposures to 2-MEA are expected to be negligible.
