Climate trends and variability

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)’s climate research program is an integral part of national and international efforts to understand climate system behaviour, the human influence on climate, and future climate change. Scientists at ECCC provide Canadians with information and data on how Canada’s climate is changing over time. For example, ECCC scientists study the current state of, and trends in, snow and ice in Canada, and investigate how changes are influencing the climate system. ECCC also prepares an annual Climate Trends and Variations Bulletin (CTVB), which communicates how Canada's climate has changed over the recent past and longer, over the period for which ECCC has observations.
