Carbon pollution pricing: options for a Federal Greenhouse Gas Offset System, chapter 18

While the main purpose of the Federal Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Offset System is to generate Offset Credits for use in the OBPS, there may be other uses for Offset Credits along with other associated stakeholder activity. It is expected that private-sector individuals and organizations, such as brokerage services and carbon exchanges may facilitate the trading of Offset Credits. Relevant links may be available on the Federal GHG Offset System website as they are developed. The financial value of offset credits will be determined by supply and demand in the market. There is no guarantee, by the Government of Canada, of the financial value, if any, of offset credits.
