Overview of the Multi-Sector Air Pollutants Regulations: part 4

Common Elements and Part 4 - General

The Multi-Sector Air Pollutants Regulations (MSAPR) consolidate information relevant to two or more Parts of the Regulations (i.e., boilers and heaters; engines; cement) in common sections. These common sections include Interpretation (i.e., descriptions, definitions and general elements) and Part 4 - General.

Part 4 provides general rules related to the installation, operation, maintenance and calibration of a Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS). Part 4 also details the rules governing how some methods already accepted by provinces to meet their reporting requirements can be applied for and approved by the Minister as “alternatives” to the methods incorporated by reference in the MSAPR.
