| Consideration of Listing to Part 1 | Phase out all exports of endosulfan and list to Part 1 of the Export Control List, which aims to prohibit export except for the purpose of destruction, which would be more protective than listing endosulfan to Part 2. | Some uses of endosulfan are currently allowed and Part 1 includes substances which are prohibited for use in Canada. Endosulfan is presently being phased out in Canada with some registered uses continuing until December 2016. The listing on Part 2 of the Export Control List will allow Canada to meet all its obligations under the Rotterdam Convention. Once listed to the Export Control List, exports of endosulfan which would contravene the Rotterdam Convention would be prohibited by Canadian laws. |
