Opened on December 15, 2025, and closed to new input on February 13, 2026.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is seeking comments on key areas where the Environmental Emergency Regulations, 2019 (E2 Regulations) could be improved. This is a mandatory review of the existing regulations. This review will also identify potential areas for improvement to reduce regulatory administrative burden and duplication. Further information about initiatives to reduce red tape is outlined in the Red Tape Reduction Plan and Progress Report 2025.
Objective of this engagement
ECCC is gathering feedback to determine if challenges around the implementation of the E2 Regulations should be addressed though regulatory amendments. The goal of potential regulatory amendments is to improve the effectiveness of the E2 Regulations and reduce red tape for regulatees.
