Current status: Closed

Opened on August 2, 2021 and closed to new input on September 7, 2021.

We consulted Canadians on the proposal to require federally regulated employers to provide menstrual products in the workplace. This initiative aims to:

  • ensure access to menstrual products for federally regulated employees to reduce the following:
    • physical and psychological health risks
    • the prevalence of harassment and violence in the workplace, and
    • the prevalence of missed work due to a lack of access to menstrual products
  • support our commitments to gender equity

Who was focus of this consultation

We invited all Canadians to participate in this consultation, including:

  • federally regulated employers and employees
  • members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community
  • persons with disabilities
  • persons identifying as First Nations, Inuk (Inuit), Métis or Indigenous
  • all Canadians

Key questions for discussion

The survey aimed to collect information on the following issues:

  • providing menstrual products in in-office, non-traditional, and remote workplaces, including mobile employees
  • the method of dispensing menstrual products in federally regulated workplaces
