Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities

The Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities is a program that helps to close the skills and employment gap between persons with disabilities and those without disabilities. It does this by supporting persons with disabilities to find and keep good jobs, advance in their careers, or become entrepreneurs.

The program provides funding for projects delivered by third-party organizations in communities across Canada. These projects provide persons with disabilities with skills training, self-employment activities, job placements, and a range of other employment and wrap-around supports.

The program is a key vehicle for the implementation of the Employment Strategy for Canadians with disabilities. The purpose of the Employment Strategy is to close the employment gap between persons with disabilities and those without. The Opportunities Fund program funds projects that align with and advance the three goals of the Strategy, which are:

• Individuals – help them find and maintain good jobs, advance in their careers or become entrepreneurs
• Employers – help them to diversify their workforces by creating inclusive and accessible workplaces; and
• Enablers – increase the supply, capacity, and reach of individuals and organizations that support disability inclusion and accessibility in employment

Projects funded by the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities
