Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative
The Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative, delivered through the Community Workforce Development Program, helps workers affected by a mass layoff that significantly impacts the community. The initiative complements existing federal, provincial, and territorial programs by providing additional support to help laid-off workers transition to new jobs.
Organizations can apply for funding to:
- bring together community-based organizations, employers, training providers and others to develop a community workforce plan that identifies impacted workers, local employers looking to hire, and skills required to meet demand;
- help workers develop the skills needed to transition to new jobs through training and work experiences, and
- support employers to fill jobs in demand.
